Wall Collage
Celebrating Artcite Inc's 25th Anniversary Exhibition

One of the interactive activities at Artcite Inc's 25th Anniversary Exhibition was a collaborative wall collage. The gallery designated a large three-wall space as the area in which the collaborative collage could be built. The collage was built by people gluing , drawing, or writing things on the wall. The gallery also provided a table, materials to cut out, glue sticks, scissors, and old film reels...or you could bring any materials you wanted. Oona Mosna organized this activity and plans to produce a catalog visually documenting this wall. We look forward to seeing it!

Fluxus Midwest made two major contributions to the collage. First, we sprinkled many stickers throughout the collage. We used three types of stickers: the Fluxus license plate sticker, the Fluxus Tomato sticker, and the Fluxlist Blog sticker. We also rubber-stamped the classic Fluxus Midwest "X" logo throughout the collage.

Second, we cut out every one of 42 pipe-smoker images from The Fluxus Blog All-Stars poster (see graphic below) and glued these as a group on the collage (see first photo, above). Each image represented one of the 42 people who contributed to the Fluxlist Blog during its debut year as a collaborative online publication.

Artcite Inc's 25th Anniversary Exhibition

Currently one of the most active Fluxus "playgrounds" in the world is the FLUXLIST BLOG. Fluxus Midwest publicized Artcite Inc's 25th Anniversary celebration and encouraged Fluxlisters to make a contribution to the exhibition. Contributors included Madawg, Michael Leigh, Allan Revich, and Allen Bukoff/Fluxus Midwest. During the exhibition, Madawg (from Pacific Grove, California) came to Detroit and hooked up with Allen Bukoff and his wife, Janice. The three of them made the short cross-border trek to the Artcite Inc. gallery one Saturday afternoon. In addition to reviewing the exhibition, Madawg and Allen Bukoff spent some time playing in the gallery and contributing to the Wall Collage.
